When Roger sold United Bicycle Parts, his national wholesale distribution business of twenty years, he decided to turn his lifelong interest in real estate into a profession. So, in the fall of 2004, Roger secured his Oregon real estate broker license.

Roger had originally visited Ashland in 1980 during grad school, and didn’t leave. After selling his home in Madison, WI, buying forest land near Ashland and building a house, Roger met his wife, Ana Aizpurua, from San Sebastian, Spain. They were blessed with three great boys, Kirk, Alex and Ian. Having outgrown their mountain home, Roger and family built on property near Emigrant Lake, but now live in Ashland, within walking distance from schools. Yes, walking distance!

Roger gained valuable real estate experience from these building projects, but most of his business experience came from starting and running his wholesale import and distribution company, UBP. Without good products, customer service, attention to detail, and a knowledgeable staff, there would have been little success at UBP. However, twenty years in business taught Roger that people are the most important part of any successful endeavor.

This interest in people has led Roger to take on several community tasks including coaching youth soccer for sixteen seasons, serving on the United Way board of directors, doing United Way committee work and environmental advocacy work, including co-founding the Soda Mountain Wilderness Council.

After living and working here for twenty-six years, Roger knows and loves Ashland.
